A Brazilian Feast and Monster Sushi Has Godzilla Rolls!

Well this isn't anything about cooking, just another New York story, but (a) it's always the silly season with me and (b) we'll have a shortage of serious content for a bit due to the holiday, so, without further ado, here goes....

Yesterday a friend of mine who hails from Sao Paolo took me to a Brazilian restaurant in Little Brazil (46th St and 5th Avenue) called Emporium Brasil. It was very nice and I highly recommend it. I'm not entirely sure what we had because she ordered. It was good. There was a very thick cut of pan roasted steak, some black bean stew, and many things I didn't entirely follow but were all good, including this truly awesome chili pepper oil. The caipirinha was excellent, too---I really have to learn how to make those as I think they could easily become among my favorite drinks. Prices were pretty good, too, at least by Manhattan standards. (I should also note that Brazilian food and Latin American food more generally is really not any good for a vegetarian. Basically it's meat with a side of meat and starch.)

As we were leaving, me heading back to Queens and her going to the 6 train, my overdeveloped sense of the ridiculous saw, across the street, Monster Sushi. Of course my mind immediately associated this with Japanese monster movies. And, it turns out that Monster Sushi indeed has a "godzilla roll." I have no idea if Monster Sushi is any good, but props for the name. I'm really not much of a sushi fan, but I figure I should give them a try.
